1.4436 Stainless Steel Corrosion Resistant Weld Neck Flange EN 10222-5 Compliant Forged Steel Flange

1.4436 is a European (EN) stainless steel grade designation. It's an austenitic stainless steel, very similar to 316L, but with slightly higher molybdenum content for better corrosion resistance, especially in chloride-containing environments like seawater or salt spray.

Typical chemical composition of 1.4436 (in weight percent, %):

• The higher molybdenum content (up to about 3%) differentiates 1.4436 from the more common 1.4404/316L, and improves pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chlorides
• It is non-magnetic in the solution-annealed condition and weldable, like other austenitic stainless steels
• In many applications it's used where standard 316L might be borderline in terms of corrosion resistance, but where duplex or higher-alloy steels (like 1.4462) would be overkill or too costly
