PN Rated 1.4539 Stainless Steel Blind Pipe Flanges with Corrosion Resistance

Product Summary
Steel grade 1.4439 is an austenitic stainless steel with excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chloride environments. High molybdenum (4.5–5%) and nitrogen content enhance durability and strength, while low carbon minimizes carbide precipitation for maintained corrosion resistance after welding.

Product Description
X1NiCrMoCu2-5-20-5 EN 10222-5 1.4539 X1CrNiMoCu25-20-5 PN Rated Stainless Flanges
Material Overview

Steel grade 1.4439 is an austenitic stainless steel, often known as a high-alloy molybdenum stainless steel (similar to UNS S31726 / X2CrNiMoN17-13-5 in some systems). It's specifically designed for applications requiring excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-containing environments such as seawater and chemical processing.

Chemical Composition

Typical chemical composition (weight %):

Element Content (%)
Carbon (C) ≤ 0.030
Chromium (Cr) 16.5 – 18.5
Nickel (Ni) 12.5 – 14.5
Molybdenum (Mo) 4.5 – 5.0
Nitrogen (N) 0.12 – 0.22
Manganese (Mn) ≤ 2.0
Silicon (Si) ≤ 1.0
Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.015
Iron (Fe) Balance (the remainder)
Composition Benefits
  • High chromium content (≈17–18%) provides strong general corrosion and oxidation resistance
  • High molybdenum content (≈4.5–5%) significantly improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride media compared with standard 316/316L stainless steel
  • Nitrogen content (≈0.15–0.2%) increases strength and further improves pitting resistance
  • Low carbon content (≤ 0.03%) minimizes carbide precipitation and helps maintain corrosion resistance after welding
Important Note: Exact composition limits may vary slightly by standard (EN, ASTM, specific mill specifications). For critical design or certification requirements, always verify the applicable material standard or consult the mill test certificate for precise composition ranges.
