Product Description
Alloy825 NACE Compliant IBR Approved Flanges

Alloy 825 (also known as Alloy825, Incoloy 825, or UNS N08825) is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy engineered for exceptional corrosion resistance in both reducing and oxidizing environments, including acids, chlorides, and sour service applications.

Chemical Composition
Element Composition Range (Weight %)
Nickel (Ni) 38.0 – 46.0%
Iron (Fe) Balance (typically 22 – 30%)
Chromium (Cr) 19.5 – 23.5%
Molybdenum (Mo) 2.5 – 3.5%
Copper (Cu) 1.5 – 3.0%
Titanium (Ti) 0.6 – 1.2%
Manganese (Mn) Up to 1.0%
Silicon (Si) Up to 0.5%
Carbon (C) Maximum 0.05%
Sulfur (S) Maximum 0.03%
Aluminum (Al) Up to 0.2%
Element Functionality
  • Nickel (High Content): Provides comprehensive corrosion resistance and toughness, essential for stress corrosion cracking resistance in chloride and caustic environments.
  • Chromium: Primary element for resistance to oxidizing environments, forming a stable passive film that protects against oxidizing acids and hot aerated media.
  • Molybdenum and Copper: Enhance resistance to reducing environments such as sulfuric and phosphoric acids, providing protection against pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-bearing solutions.
  • Titanium (with Controlled Carbon): Stabilizes the alloy against sensitization by preventing carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, maintaining intergranular corrosion resistance after welding or heating.
  • Low Carbon, Low Sulfur, Controlled Mn/Si: Low carbon limits carbide precipitation, low sulfur prevents hot cracking and improves corrosion resistance, while controlled manganese and silicon aid deoxidation and processing without negatively affecting corrosion properties.

Critical Application Note:

For critical applications including pressure vessels, sour service, and nuclear applications, always refer to official standards or mill certificates for exact composition limits. Relevant specifications include ASTM B163 / B423 / B424 / B705 for pipes, tubes, and plates in Alloy 825, and UNS N08825 composition sheets from manufacturers.
