Alloy625 EN 1092 Class 150 Forged Flange
Alloy 625, more commonly known as Inconel 625 (UNS N06625, W.Nr. 2.4856), is a nickel-based superalloy designed for excellent strength and corrosion resistance, especially in harsh environments including high temperatures, seawater, and acidic conditions.
Chemical Composition
The chemical composition is typically given in weight percent. Exact values can vary slightly by standard (ASTM, AMS, ISO) and producer, but the usual specification range is:

Nickel (Ni) Balance (usually around 58–63%)
Chromium (Cr) 20.0 – 23.0%
Molybdenum (Mo) 8.0 – 10.0%
Niobium (Nb) + Tantalum (Ta) 3.15 – 4.15%
Smaller Additions and Limits
  • Iron (Fe): up to about 5.0% (often lower in practice)
  • Cobalt (Co): up to 1.0% max
  • Manganese (Mn): up to 0.5% max
  • Silicon (Si): up to 0.5% max
  • Aluminum (Al): up to 0.4% max
  • Titanium (Ti): up to 0.4% max
Impurity Limits
  • Carbon (C): ≤ 0.10% (many specs tighten this, e.g., ≤ 0.05%)
  • Phosphorus (P): ≤ 0.015%
  • Sulfur (S): ≤ 0.015%
Composition Significance
  • High Ni + Cr: Excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance, especially at high temperatures
  • Mo + Nb: Solid-solution strengthening, providing high strength without heat treatment; boosts resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride and acidic environments
  • Very low C, P, S: Improves weldability and resistance to intergranular corrosion
