Product Description
Alloy 601 Offshore Flange Pipeline Forged Flange
Material Overview

Alloy 601, also known as Inconel 601 or UNS N06601, is a high-temperature, oxidation-resistant nickel-chromium alloy designed for demanding industrial applications. Its consistent chemical composition ensures reliable performance across various standards and suppliers.

Chemical Composition
Element Composition (% by weight)
Nickel (Ni) 58.0–63.0%
Chromium (Cr) 21.0–25.0%
Iron (Fe) Balance (remainder after other elements)
Aluminum (Al) 1.0–1.7%
Carbon (C) ≤ 0.10%
Manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.0%
Silicon (Si) ≤ 0.50%
Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.015%
Copper (Cu) ≤ 1.0%

Additional specifications may include Titanium (Ti) up to approximately 0.6% maximum, typically at very low or residual levels.

Key Element Functions
  • High Nickel (Ni) Content
    • Provides excellent high-temperature strength
    • Ensures resistance to corrosive environments
    • Maintains toughness and stability at elevated temperatures
  • High Chromium (Cr) Content
    • Delivers strong oxidation resistance in air at high temperatures (up to 1100–1200°C)
    • Forms a stable, protective oxide layer on the surface
  • Aluminum (Al) Addition
    • Enhances resistance to high-temperature oxidation
    • Reduces spalling (flaking) of the oxide scale
    • Improves performance in cyclic heating conditions
  • Iron (Fe) as Balance
    • Helps control manufacturing costs
    • Adjusts mechanical properties while preserving high-temperature capability
Typical Applications
  • Furnace components and heat-treating equipment
  • Petrochemical processing equipment
  • Catalyst support grids
  • Combustion chambers
  • High-temperature fixtures
Important Note: For design, welding, or material selection purposes, always verify the exact composition limits in relevant standards (such as ASTM B166/B167/B168 for N06601) or consult material certificates from suppliers, as minor variations may exist between producers and product forms.
