UNS S31803 duplex stainless steel features a balanced 50:50 microstructure of austenite and ferrite, delivering exceptional mechanical strength (yield strength typically exceeding 480 MPa) combined with good ductility and moderate to excellent corrosion resistance across various environments.

Available with PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent) >34 by agreement, this alloy provides maximum pitting corrosion resistance for its grade class. The material also offers superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking and maintains excellent notch ductility at both ambient and subzero temperatures.

This duplex steel serves as an effective alternative to 300 series stainless steels in applications requiring higher mechanical strength, reduced weight, and enhanced stress corrosion cracking resistance.
